Atletico Madrid legends will play a friendly match against Club America legends on 15 November at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla. The event, promoted by Never Say Never, will be the first official legends fixture between the two historic clubs.

Confirmed names for the red-and-white side include Diego Godin, Maxi Rodriguez, Radamel Falcao and David Villa. Club America will be represented by the likes of Claudio ‘Piojo’ López, Luis Roberto Alves ‘Zague’, Rubens Sambueza and Adolfo Ríos. The Atletico Madrid manager, described as a very special figure for the club's fans, will be announced in the coming weeks alongside the remaining squad members.

The match will consist of two 40-minute halves, for a total of 80 minutes of play, with a penalty shootout deciding the winner if needed. Kick-off is set for 18:00 local time, which is 01:00 CET on 16 November in Madrid. General ticket sales begin on 5 October via Boletomóvil, with prices starting from 240 pesos for the over 46,000-seater stadium.

Emilio Rabasa from promoter NSN outlined the event's aim. "Seeing them defend the colours of Club America and Atletico Madrid again will be a unique opportunity to relive great memories and bring their legacy closer to new generations," he said. He added they want to "combine football, nostalgia and emotion to create unique and memorable moments".

This legends clash comes twelve years after the only previous meeting between the senior teams in 2014, which America won on penalties. The event has official recognition from both clubs.

The fixture in Mexico takes place as Atletico Madrid's first team prepares for an away trip to Alaves this weekend. Diego Simeone's side sits second in La Liga with 16 points, having recorded four wins and one draw in their last five matches.
