The incidents, logged by LaLiga observers, occurred in sectors 127 to 133. In the 29th minute, and again in the 64th, the chant 'Todos a una, puta Osasuna' was heard. One minute later, and once more in the 84th, 'Madridistas hijos de puta' was sung. Additionally, in the 68th minute, a chant directed at referee Ortiz Arias completed the list of prohibited conduct. "LaLiga has submitted a new complaint letter to the RFEF's Competition Committee and the Anti-Violence Commission," the body confirmed in its communication.
These acts are classified as serious infractions under both the RFEF's Sports Discipline Code and the Law against violence, racism, xenophobia, and intolerance in sport. "The denounced clubs face possible sanctioning resolutions from the Competition and Anti-Violence Committee," states the complaint text. Potential consequences for Atlético Madrid range from financial fines to the temporary closure of the stands identified as the source of the insults.
The news arrives at a sensitive time for the team, which sits fourth in LaLiga with 13 points, five behind leaders Barcelona. The red-and-white side is coming off a resounding 4-0 victory over Osasuna itself, with goals from Jonathan David, Lee Kang-In, Robin Le Normand and Álex Baena.
