Atletico Madrid Unveils First 17 Players for Walk of Legends

Atletico Madrid has announced the first 17 players to be featured in the new Walk of Legends. The list includes legends from all eras of the club, such as Fernando Torres and Luis Aragonés.

Who are the chosen ones?

The vote was divided into four periods from the founding in 1903 to the present. Each period had a large list of the most outstanding players at that time, and the member had to order the five most important ones under their criteria.

How was the vote carried out?

The vote was held among 47,095 members, who could choose from 200 footballers divided into four historical periods. The 17 most voted, in order, were: Fernando Torres, Luis Aragonés, Futre, Simeone, Gabi, Adelardo, Escudero, Ben Barek, Godín, Gárate, Collar, Kiko, Pantic, Forlán, Aparicio, Arteche, and Falcao.

What's next for the Walk of Legends?

It is expected that the new plaques will be installed by the first league match. The current ones, corresponding to the Paseo del Centenario, will be removed in the coming weeks and delivered to each player.

Atletico Madrid is currently in 4th place in the League, with 69 points and a record of 21 wins, 6 draws, and 11 losses in 38 games. The goal difference is +18, with 62 goals scored and 44 conceded.
