Atlético Madrid is close to signing one of Barcelona's targets in the summer transfer window. The club is on the verge of completing a deal for defender Cristian Romero. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the deal is now close, with a new offer set to be sent to Tottenham soon. Romano added: "Romero has given the green light to move to Atlético, and talks between the two clubs are entering their final stages". Meanwhile, Barcelona is still focused on the deal for Rodri, and there is no offer to sign the Tottenham defender yet. Defender Cristian Romero has been one of Barcelona's targets to strengthen their defense, after Ronald Araújo left for Liverpool on loan this summer. Currently, Atlético Madrid is in fourth place in the league, with 62 goals scored and 44 conceded (+18 goal difference). The club is 25 points behind leaders Barcelona. Their next match is on February 14, 2027 against Osasuna at the El Sadar stadium.
